Lesson summary

Students brainstorm energy issues in their school community. They use the ‘Ranking Ladder’ thinking tool to assist in organising their ideas about energy issues from most important to the least important issues. Students select the issue that they are most passionate about and communicate their ideas and opinions with a letter writing activity to their school Principal, Council or other leadership group.

Learning intentions:

Students will...

  • build creative and critical thinking skills
  • explain their ideas to communicate effectively with other people
  • discover that opinions are important and can be communicated to a range of people. Our school community needs to find out what the opinions of people are.
