This unit is designed to introduce students to the complex and pressing issue of climate change. Through a variety of activities, students will explore the causes and impacts of climate change, as well as potential solutions. They will begin by brainstorming and researching the topic, creating questions, and investigating data related to CO2 levels, greenhouse gases, and the carbon budget. Students will also examine the impact of climate change on food webs, energy resources, floods, geoengineering, sea level rise, and society as a whole. Through visual storytelling exercises, creating artwork, and persuasive writing, students will be encouraged to develop their own vision for a sustainable future. They will also have the opportunity to create a review of an exhibition and engage in peer review, building their literacy skills along the way. By the end of the unit, students will have a deeper understanding of the issue of climate change and the need for action to address it.
