In this unit, students will explore the interconnectedness of animals, people and environment through the investigation of waste and consumer choices. These lessons are designed to challenge students to think about how their needs and wants, behaviours and consumer choices impact on the future of all living things.
You may choose to teach the lessons in the sequence provided or as stand alone lessons. The Social Action lessons have been created as a sequence, Observe, Take Action, Celebrate, to help empower students to become leaders who will make positive change in their community.
This unit has been developed in partnership with Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program. Roots & Shoots is a global youth-led program of young people taking action to improve our world. By participating in these lessons, you and your students will be joining thousands of young people and teachers working to make positive change for all living things.
