In this unit, students explore the concept of solid waste and learn about the 4Rs - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. They conduct experiments, research technical terms, develop a safety code, and investigate waste produced by their school and local area. Students also design and conduct surveys to gather data on waste management practices and barriers to using green waste bins. The unit concludes with an activity where students communicate their understanding of the 4Rs and develop a plan to cut down solid waste in their classroom.
