Schools Clean Up Day inspires thousands of Australians to take to their local park, beach, bushland, streets and schools to clean up their local environments. Clean Up Australia and Cool Australia have teamed up to create high-quality educational resources, which engage students in sustainability education.
Students participate in a variety of activities such as observing and recording waste, creating campaigns to reduce littering, conducting experiments, designing environmentally-friendly packaging, and measuring water usage. They develop an understanding of the impact of waste on the environment and learn how to reduce, reuse, and recycle to minimize this impact. Students are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their environmental footprint and engage in active citizenship to promote sustainable practices in their communities. They also have a number of action-based learning lessons where students collaboratively plan their Clean-Up Day activities and other environmental projects. Don’t forget to register your Schools Clean Up event!
